TrackMyGCSEs

Privacy notice

The short version: we store only what we need, only you can see it, and you can delete it at any time.

Who we are

TrackMyGCSEs is free, made by a GCSE student for GCSE students. It isn't a company and isn't linked to any exam board or school. We decide what happens to the data described here.

For anything about your data, use the contact form on our About page and say how to reach you (a parent's or school email is best).

What we store

Before you create an account, everything you enter stays on your device. We do not receive it.

With an account, we store your first name, email address, the subjects and exam boards you chose, and what you enter: grades, scores, what each test was on, topic ratings, notes, revision you marked as done and test dates.

If something in the app breaks, it sends us a short technical error report: what went wrong, which page, your browser type and the app version. It never includes your name, email, grades or anything you typed. Messages you send with Send feedback, Report a mistake or the contact form are anonymous unless you write your own contact details in them.

Only if you say yes (we ask once, and you can change it in Settings), the app sends anonymous counts once a week: the week you started, that you used it this week, how many things you logged last week, your year group and whether you are on a phone or computer. There is no name, email or device ID, so it can’t be linked to you.

We never ask for your date of birth, school, address or phone number. Your candidate and centre numbers stay on your device only and are never uploaded.

Storage on your device (no cookies)

TrackMyGCSEs doesn’t use cookies or advertising trackers. It keeps your answers, scores and settings in your browser’s storage so the app works, including without internet. If you have an account, Google Firebase also keeps you signed in on that device. Clearing this site’s data in your browser removes all of it from that device.

Why we store it

Your account data: to give you the service you signed up for: your dashboard, your revision list, and your data on all your devices.

Error reports: because we have a legitimate interest in fixing things that break. They are anonymous.

Weekly counts: only because you agreed. Saying no changes nothing else in the app.

Who else is involved

Only you can see your data. There is no messaging, no public profile and no sharing with other students.

Two companies run parts of the service for us and may only use the data to do that: Google Firebase (accounts and the database) and Vercel (hosts the website; like every website host, its servers see your IP address to send you the pages). Their servers may be outside the UK; both use standard data protection terms for that.

Links to search results, exam board websites and past papers open those sites, which have their own privacy policies.

We do not sell your data, show adverts or use advertising trackers.

How long we keep it

Your account data stays until you delete your account. Deleting it removes your account and everything in it straight away; we don’t keep copies.

Anonymous error reports, feedback and weekly counts are kept for up to 2 years, then deleted.

Your rights

You can see, edit, download or delete everything you entered from Settings, then My data, and delete your account in Settings.

You can also ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it: use the contact form on our About page and say how to reach you (a parent's or school email is best).

If you’re unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk (or the data protection authority where you live). We’d like the chance to put it right first.

Age

You need to be 13 or over to create an account. If we find out an account belongs to someone under 13, we will delete it.

Changes

If this notice changes in a way that matters, we’ll say so in the app. Last updated 23 October 2026.
